Last updated 2 September 2026. This page describes exactly what RoomMood Lab records, and what it deliberately does not.

We do not use cookies

RoomMood Lab sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. There is nothing on this site that follows you to another one.

Page counts

So that we can tell which guides are actually read, each page view records four things to our own database: the page address, the hostname of the site you arrived from, a country code supplied by our hosting provider, and the time.

We do not record your IP address, your browser or device details, or any identifier. Only the referring hostname is kept, never the full address, because a full address can carry information from the other site. Nothing recorded can be traced back to you or joined up across visits. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, no page view is recorded at all.

One more thing is recorded, added in September 2026: a single yes or no for whether the request identified itself as an automated crawler rather than a person. Search engines and link previewers visit this site too, and without that one bit we cannot tell their visits apart from yours. Only the yes or no is stored. The browser identification it is worked out from is read once, in memory, and never written down: a yes or no cannot be traced to anybody, and a full browser identification can.

Email

RoomMood Lab does not currently collect email addresses. There is no signup form on the site, and no mailing list is being run. If that changes, this page will say so before any address is collected.

Outbound link counts

Some guides link to a manufacturer’s own product page so you can check a published measurement for yourself. When such a link is clicked we record two things to our own database: our own short label for that link, and which page of ours it was on. We do not record who clicked it, where you went afterwards, or anything about your browser or device. A Do Not Track signal suppresses this exactly as it suppresses the page count.

Affiliate links

RoomMood Lab currently carries no affiliate links or advertising, and earns nothing from the retailer links described above. If that changes, links will be labelled and the affiliate disclosure updated before any such link is published.
